Been kinda busy!

The Crew. Cirila, Dave, Kate, Kappy & Patty

Sorry for not posting for a couple days. I need to keep on top of it because I loose track of what happened when😬

Let’s see, I’ll start with Saturday which is when we left Porto on foot. The walk was only 7 miles but I’m not going to lie, starting is always tough. My feet hurt, my shoulders hurt, blah blah blah. Anyways the walk is along the river (where the smells are overwhelmingly fishy) and then alongside the Atlantic Ocean which is surprisingly similar to the Pacific on this side.

The weather was foggy until about 2pm when the sun finally broke through. Most of the walk was along a wooden boardwalk and was pretty busy with vacationers and beachgoers (regardless of the fog, they were on vacation).

We arrived at the Municipal Albergue in La Bruge at 3:30 and we all managed to secure beds, although we were separated. Mine was a bottom bunk and my bunkmate was a darling 20 year old Italian boy named Andreas or Gabriela (not sure which one actually inhabited the bed-they traveled together). So I took a shower and washed my clothes. Hung them out to dry with little hope of success and the fog started rolling back in 😔

We met lots of people. Jeffery from the Netherlands, Molly from Oregon whom we met at the Cathedral in Porto the day before. She played semi pro basketball there. She is trying to get a job with the Portland Trailblazers. We also met a couple from Rotterdam who were sleeping in the same room as Dave and Kate. Finally we met a couple from Italy who were traveling with their pup Frieda. I miss my pup!

Me and my little bro Dave

So. Woke up this morning to super damp clothes. Pinned a couple to my pack and headed out. The others weren’t up by the time I was ready to go so I was alone. Something magical about walking in the fog at 8 am along the ocean❤️.

And I saw some very cool stuff along the way

The rest of my party caught up around lunchtime at Vila De Conde where there is this beautiful garden park.

We had lunch and continued towards our Albergue in Aver-o-Mar. After ending up a mile away from where we were supposed to be we arrived with 12.4 miles under our belt at a beautiful spot aside the ocean. So completely different than last evening. I’ll post some pictures and the name tomorrow but to sleep right now.

Nighty nite❤️
