It was a good day!
First thing on the agenda today was startling a load of wash. While waiting, we went to mass at the church of San Francisco which was a short block away. The priest was stodgy and I didn’t understand a word he was saying 🤪. Oh well. I counted 32 angels in the altarpiece. In front of the church on the pavement, we found this beautiful mural made of some flowers.
Unfortunately the blue pilgrim had been stepped on (perhaps in the dark?), in any event it was still quite stunning.
After mass we returned to our apartment and hung our wet but clean clothing up to dry, turning on electric fans to assist in the process.
Since were were staying an extra night, we set out to spend the day visiting the cities of Valenca & Tui..
our first stop was the castle which is located on the Portuguese side in Valenca. Besides a lot of tourist shops, there is a lot of history there.
So we had a good lunch. We were somewhat purposely isolated by being seated between 2 tables “reserved” for anyone who dared sit next to us, tables.
Oh well. Onward
So we proceeded to return to Spain and visit the Cathedral of Tui which was really kinda interesting and featured lots more angels.
The view of the river Miho
We picked up our second stamp of the day here (the first was at the tourist office) and after touring the church we returned to our digs to turn off the fans and take the dry laundry down.
Dinner this evening was veggie pizza. The restaurants do not start serving here til 8pm so we were the first ones to be seated.
Tomorrow we strap on those packs and head on north into Spain!
